Legend has it that in the tenth century French sailors carrying the relics of the saint stopped in Barcelona to shelter from the storm. They left the remains in custody in the chapel of San Fruitós de Montjuïc, where, miraculously, they didn’t want to leave anymore. It was then that the cult of the saint began, mainly to ask protection of sea and rain during drought years.
